What is a challenge group and why would I want to join one?
I’ve been talking a lot lately about challenge groups, and then realized, you probably have no idea what I mean! As I have mentioned, I believe that a lot of my personal consistency and success with my health and fitness so far is the direct result of getting involved in “challenge groups.” These groups are one of the tools Beachbody Coaches use to help clients gain focus and clarity to reach their goals.
So, what is a challenge group?
Basically, it’s a group of people, usually small (like 5-20), doing the same thing and working toward the same goal by posting daily about their progress, struggles, questions, and tips. These are typically on Facebook, but it could be via email, Beachbody’s My Challenge Tracker app, or some other way of keeping in touch. The purpose depends on the challenge!
I prefer Facebook. It’s an easy way to connected and share.
What is the purpose of a challenge group?
Accountability! And information… Those are the main purposes of my challenge groups. I feel strongly that having accountability is key to accomplishing a goal. If there’s no one watching, will you work toward your goal? If you don’t know what you’re doing or where to start, will your work get you to your goal?
What type of challenge groups are there?
There are different types of challenges. These can be short term or long term. They can be specific or more general. Here’s some examples.
1) A week long “cut the crap” challenge. This is a fun one where you spend a week focusing on whole foods and clean eating.
2) A 21 day workout challenge where you are doing one of the 21 day workout programs, like 21 Day Fix or Shift Shop
3) A 90 day workout challenge where you focus on one of the longer-term program, like 80 Day Obsession or P90x
4) A long term challenge, such as a 2B Mindset Success group.
5) A 2-4 week meal prepping challenge. This could be something like a Mason jar meal plan or a Fixate meal plan where everyone, plans, shops and preps the same meal plan at the same time.
It can be really helpful and motivating to be working toward the same goal at the same time! It is so much easier when you have others to bounce ideas off of or share tips or get some motivation to stay on track!
Does it cost anything?
Only your time and attention (and maybe the cost for whatever program you’re doing, or items you might need to fulfill the challenge)! Every group is different! Some of my groups have a requirement that I am your Beachbody coach and some are open to anyone. It just depends on the challenge!
What do I have to do in a challenge group?
Well, that is going to depend on the challenge. If it’s a meal prep challenge, for example, you’ll just follow along and post your progress and encouragement. But, for a fitness challenge; however, you will follow the program. There might be posting requirements, like daily check ins or pictures of your food. That’s all part of the fun!
I HIGHLY recommend getting into a challenge group. They are so fun and I always learn a ton.
